Restraint is not about helplessness, it’s about containment.
Good restraint limits movement without limiting communication and creates stillness without panic.
When most people think about restraints they immediately envision cuffs, ropes, or chains. In reality, restraints can be physical or mental. A pair of high quality cuffs will surely hold someone in place but so will a confident command.
Restraints are meant to give a person boundaries and allow them to fully express themselves within those boundaries. You should feel held when using restraints, not trapped (unless you're into that 😏).
That’s why craftsmanship matters. Fit, intention, and materials determine whether restraint feels grounding or overwhelming. Well-made gear is made to be tugged on.
